Tuesday 23, May 2017

Access to high-speed data transfer and live HD video broadcasting are key needs for the reporters at France Télévisions, who are in the action at the forefront of current affairs media coverage.

France Télévisions has selected Marlink for its mobile broadband connection in France and Europe; and will benefit from a turnkey communications solution including vehicle-mounted satellite antennas in Ka-band on the KA-SAT satellite and 24/7 customer support.

A cost-effective, easy-to-use solution

KA services and equipment from Marlink are available at attractive prices. The Drive Away antenna selected by France Télévisions can be deployed in a matter of minutes and has a 360°, self-orientating feature which facilitates vehicle positioning and makes reporters’ lives easier. No line-up is required for this system, meaning that reporters can be on air rapidly after pointing the antenna.

Two-way broadband access

Transmission times for sending and receiving data are reduced due to the very high speed network owned by Airbus DS.

This saves time spent compressing and decompressing data. Wherever they are in Europe, reporters can work live or in delayed broadcasting with their control room.

Guaranteed availability

On-demand reservation services enable France Télévisions to reserve its own dedicated bandwidth for a specific time slot for a minimum of 15 minutes (in advance or for ‘breaking news’). This guarantees high-speed broadcasting of video reports with optimum quality.

“KA services from Marlink are the ideal solution for meeting our IP communication needs throughout Europe. The ease of the Drive Away antenna and competitive pricing were the decisive factors for us.”

Arnaud Courtois, Project Manager Engineering Department France 3
