Marlink independently confirmed as number one provider of maritime hybrid networks

Data from Valour Consultancy and Novaspace (formerly Euroconsult) confirms highest market share in hybrid connectivity, MSS, and VSAT, among providers of managed services to shipping

– Marlink, the leading managed services provider of business-critical ICT solutions has been confirmed as the leading provider of maritime hybrid networks by Valour Consultancy and Novaspace.

Marlink claimed 20.2% market share of overall maritime connectivity – including GEO VSAT, MEO, LEO and MSS – globally in 2023 and an 18.8% share among MSS maritime connectivity service providers according to data from Valour Consultancy. Marlink was also placed number one among providers of maritime VSAT with market share of 25.2%.

Data from Novaspace further supports this leading position, and demonstrates significant growth, showing Marlink with 23% market share among VSAT-equipped vessels in 2022 and 30% of revenues from overall VSAT services in the same period in 2023.

More and more maritime companies are contracting Marlink to upgrade their onboard networks to include LEO systems from Starlink or Eutelsat OneWeb alongside VSAT, 4G/5G and terrestrial fiber services where possible as they seek to deploy standard software applications and connect remote and floating assets to the cloud.

Combining high throughput, low latency services with guaranteed bandwidth and uptime enables a new level of crew welfare services and enterprise applications. Marlink recently reported that sales of LEO terminals for integration into hybrid networks or deployed standalone had passed 3,600 units.

Marlink has responded to the shift towards hybrid blended networks with enhanced provision of managed services, including network orchestration, application-based routing and cyber security solutions. The company has also opened new customer support centres in key locations to provide shipowners with enhanced access to local experts.

Marlink is delighted to have been recognised for the work we do every day to help our customers achieve their digitalisation goals, sail safely and in compliance. Our global teams are focussed on creating possibilities for the world’s leading shipping companies, a task that calls for long term relationships and deep expertise.
